| Course Description |
Successful students must have a good understanding of their strengths and the areas for improvement that they bring to the learning environment and the workplace. This course allows students to learn about communicating effectively, managing time wisely, setting goals, participating as effective team members, and developing techniques to enhance self-esteem. In addition, students will be able to examine, manage and engage in their own career-building process. They will research the career planning process, labour market information, and the trends affecting the current work world. Students will also examine the Essential Skills framework in relation to employer expectations. Students will learn how to effectively set personal goals and then research and plan how to achieve their career goals. They will use computers for research and word processing purposes. In all cases, students will select outcomes related to their background and educational/vocational goals. |
